Explosions rock Maiduguri

There were explosions near the Gomari area of Borno state on Tuesday evening, according to residents.

Some of the residents also said they heard multiple gunshots around and Mairi area a few minutes past 6 pm.

Mairi area is a student-dominated area near the University of Maiduguri.

Many people were reportedly killed in the attack but this could not be immediately verified by The PUNCH.

The insurgents were attempting to infiltrate Maiduguri but they were repelled around Kaleri, after Mairi, a military source told TheCable.
