- Portugal vs Netherlands ended in a slim 1-0 win for home side as they lift the maiden UNL title
- The only goal of the match was scored in the second half by Gonzalo Guedes of Valencia
- Portugal now become the first European nation to win the Nations League at their backyard
Portugal vs Netherlands ended 1-0 in favour of Portugal as they were winners of the UEFA Nations League winners.
The much anticipated encounter did not reach its expectations in the first half but chances were few and far between.
Both sides were cagey in the opening exchanges of the match but the Dutch were the better side in the attacking third.
Rui Patricio was the busier of the two goalkeepers, however none of the chances created by Ronald Koeman's men troubled him between the sticks.
The Netherlands started brighter in the second half as Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum beat the offside trap to stay on a one-on-one with goalkeeper but his chip was palmed away by the Wolves goalie.
Portugal responded with an attacking threat on their own as Gonzalo Guedes wasted an opportunity presented to him by Manchester City attacker Bernardo Silva.
But it was the Valencia who put his side in front on the hour mark, as he got himself into a scoring position from a Silva's pass, and his shot was too hot to handle for Jasper Cillessen which put Portugal into the lead by 1-0.
After the goal, the Dutch side kept their counterparts on their toes making more dangerous crosses into the box but lacked precision in front of goal.
Patricio was called into action once again as he made a fantastic save from Van De Beek whose header took the shot-stopper off his feet.
And that was how it stayed as Portugal were crowned first winners of the competition and Cristiano Ronaldo added another silverware in his national colors.
