A Daura based political association in Katsina state, Ahmed Kabir Support Group, has denied backing the Accord Party (AP) in the forthcoming general elections.
A statement signed by the director general of the group, Ahaji Samaila Daura, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday, February 12, said the group remained committed to supporting all candidates of the APC in the elections.
According to him, the rumour about their alleged support to the AP's senatorial candidate, Lawal Nalado, was being bandied by faceless people who were not members of the group.
“This rumour is baseless, unfounded and untrue,” he said, adding that their support to APC candidates remain unshaken.
The director general appealed to all members of the group to ignore the rumour and continue mobilisation of voters for the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s flag bearers, including President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Aminu Masari and Senator Ahmad Babba-Kaita.
Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that local government of Delta state, on Tuesday, February 12, disclosed that the party was not supporting any other APC candidate apart from Buhari.
In a statement by its chairman, Jonathan Idoro, the party denied endorsing the APC House of Representative candidate, Francis Waive.
It was reported that Idoro said he remained strongly in support of SDP’s candidate, Honourable Solomon Awhinawhi, a serving lawmaker at the national parliament.
