Former Chelsea defender David Luiz has revealed why he opted to leave the Blues for neighbours Arsenal on transfer deadline day.
According to The Mirror citing ESPN report, the Brazilian insists he has to leave after finding out during his discussion with club boss Frank Lampard that they shared had 'different ideas', suggesting he would not fit into his plans.
As a result the 32-year-old Luiz could not reject Arsenal offer to replace former captain Laurent Koscielny despite penning a new two-year deal at Chelsea recently.
Speaking moments after his Arsenal debut in the 2-1 win over Burnley in a Premier League clash on Saturday, August 17, Luiz said: "It was a great pleasure.
"It is a new challenge in my career, where I took the decision to fight for new things and I enjoyed it in the best way possible.
"In talks with Frank [Lampard], he had a different plan for the year. So we spoke in total honesty and he made it clear that he had different ideas from mine.
"So I had this opportunity to receive an offer from Arsenal, which is a great club,” the Brazilian summed up

The victory however means that the Gunners are league leaders temporarily until the remaining nine matches in the second week have been concluded.
