N’Golo Kante has revealed his best midfield role after Chelsea’s defeat to Liverpool in the Super Cup.
According to The Mirror, the Frenchman, who featured in his first Chelsea game under Frank Lampard in the encounter, insists he prefers to play in a more advanced midfield role.
Interestingly, during Maurizio Sarri’s reign at Stamford Bridge, Kante was pushed into a more advanced, box-to-box role, leaving Jorginho to play from the base of Chelsea’s midfield.
After Lampard’s arrival, Chelsea fans were looking forward to see Kante return to his favoured defensive midfield role, but the French insists he’s excited playing from a more attacking position.
“I like to play in this position, this is where I played last year,” Kante told Goal.
“The coach asked me to play in this positon, I like to do it.
“I know what to do with my teammates and we played a good game tonight."
Kante is expected to play a key role for Chelsea against Leicester City on Sunday, August 18,at Stamford Bridge after surviving 120 minutes of football against Liverpool.
