The popular saying of every disappointment is a blessing has come to play in the life of teenage-turned-model.
In March, Kerion Washington had gone to seek for a job at Six Flags, the seventh largest amusement park corporation in the United States of America, but he was denied employment because he wears dreadlocks.
In annoyance of the flimsy excuse her son was denied a job opportunity, Kerion's mum, Karis Washington, vented her anger in a Facebook post which later went viral. Her post brought in job offers from various entrepreneurs who said they will be happy to employ him with his locks.

But Kerion's disappointment has turned to blessing for him as the 17-year-old looks are now paving way for a potential career in modelling.
Thanks to social media, the teenager got an Instagram direct message from Corrie Caster, head of development for IMG Los Angeles, which represents models including Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kate Moss and Ashley Graham.
A friend had earlier sent Caster an article about Kerion's experience, and his photo immediately caught the talent scout's attention.
The teen and his mum has agreed to work with a local modelling agency that Caster recommended. They have since June travelled to Austin for a photo shoot with Jones Model Management so that the 17-year-old could get acquainted with what it is like to be in the modelling world. After which Jones Model Management claimed they will send his portfolio to IMG Models for consideration of a contract.
The disappointed teenager in March recounts the reason he was turned down: "They told me I could cut my hair and come back, that it's just hair and it would grow back."
He further noted that his dreadlocks was rated same as having tattoos. He said: "But they compared it to having a tattoo. I didn't want to cut it."
Kerion who is happy with his new career as a model sums up his earlier experience at securing a job by saying: "One door closed and another one opened."
Washington’s case has since made a positive impact as Six Flags has since modified its policy around different hairstyles.
