- According to him, the party awaits the defections of thousands PDP members in the state
Christopher Abarowei, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state and the director of media and publicity for the Preye Aganaba Governorship Campaign Organisation, has spoken about elections in the state.
In an interview with the Nation, Abarowei said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was planning to do selection during the local government election instead of following due process, saying that was why APC decided to boycott the election.
The founding member also said the reason why APC lost out during the 2015 election was because some people betrayed the party and ran away from the great idea of the party.
Abarowei said that despite the fact that the governorship candidate of APC has not got an appointment in the state, he has contributed a whole lot to the state.
“Preye Aganaba has not got an appointment but you can see his signature across the state in terms of projects he has attracted. He is someone that has not been tested and tried but still performing. We are not talking of philanthropic nature of Preye Aganaba.
“We are talking of projects he has attracted. If we say philanthropist, we are saying he is spending his money. No! We are talking about the projects he attracted from the central to the state without an appointment,” he said.
He also added that anybody that says Aganaba has not served well in the state needs to be checked, adding that he has contributed greatly to party activities in the state.
Abarowei said that he his sure of party will be successful in the next governorship election in the state, saying that the party is waiting to receive thousands of defectors from the PDP.
“…Hopefully, the success will be replicated in the November 16 election. We are going into that election energised with the fact that in the last election we got one senator, two House of Representatives members and four State House of Assembly members. Very soon, we are waiting to receive thousands of defectors from the PDP,” he said.
