The newly appointed group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, will resume work on Monday, July 8.
The corporation said Kyari would take over the reins of the office from the past GMD, Maikanti Baru who retired statutorily on Sunday, July 7.
Speaking on Sunday, July 7, in Abuja the spokesperson for the NNPC, Ndu Ughamadu, said a ceremonial hand over would take place on Monday.
“Statutorily Dr. Baru retired today (Sunday). Today is a Sunday so we had to move the ceremonial hand over to Monday," Ughamadu said.
Also, the corporation on its official Twitter handle gave details of the hand over ceremony.
NNPC said: "Good morning #Nigeria. Today at the #NNPC Towers, history is made. Mallam @MKKyari will take over from @DrMKBaru as the 19th GMD of @NNPCgroup. Stay tuned here for live updates of the epoch-making transition. #BaruHandsOverToKyari #TransitionInNNPC."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that as the new GMD of NNPC.
Also appointed alongside Kyari were seven new chief operating officers for the corporation.
The president also directed that the new GMD and the newly appointed chief operating officers work with the current occupiers of the various offices till proper hand over.
